I'm Back Home...Did You Miss Me??

Hello friends..before I say any more, I would like to welcome all my new blogger friends..I appreciate you all. Well, I am home from my trip to California. I know...I just went to California a few weeks ago. My hubby and I were invited to attend the wedding of a good friend in Carlsbad, so off we go again. I just got home a couple of hours ago and can barely keep my eyes open to type this.  Without going into too much detail, I flew a redeye flight from Long Beach, got to the airport WAY too early, flight was delayed one hour, froze my patoodie off the whole five hours on the plane, took the shuttle to airport parking and could not remember where I parked, had to wake up hubby (who is still in California) to find out what lot I was in, found my car, drove to parking toll booth where Credit Card machine ate my card, supervisor had to be called to retrieve said card, finally got home only to hear a message on my phone saying I had an early morning dentist appt for today, drove straight to the dentist, fell asleep while they were drilling (did I say I was tired??) and I am now home and plan to sleep for the rest of the day. I would love to get a hold of the idiot who made that dentist appt for 3 hours after flying cross country......Oh..that's right, it was me.

Until I get some sleep I want to throw a challenge out to all of you. The two photos above are of something that was presented at the wedding I attended in Carlsbad. Let's have a guessing game to see who can tell me what it is and what you do with it. The bottom pic is of the inside looking down. It was flown all the way from Boston  to Carlsbad just for this occasion. Ok bloggers...get those Google fingers ready....set.....go!  I am thinking their should be a prize for the winner maybe..what do you think?
That's enough from me...I am going to sleep now...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...almost forgot..be kind and stay creative!

Although it looks like a weird candle...I think that thing is a melted marshmallow covered cereal snack food of sorts...

It looks like a textured sponge paint roller with something (marshmallow-like) left on it to dry. Sculpture?

Looks like a Lithuanian treat called a cepelinai or something like that. Made from potatoes mainly.

Wait! Wait! I want to change my answer! I meant to say a cake called šakotis. Sorry.

Well, Well....looks like we have one fabulous Googler in our man Bobby!!!! He is absolutely right, it is an akotis, which is a Lithuanian wedding cake. The groom at the wedding I attended in Ca is of Lithuanian heritage and the family had this akotis brought in from Boston. The funny thing about it is that the bride came to our table(we were a table of her close friends) and warned us not to eat any of it. She said it had been in the closet of the groom's uncle for a month. We watched as the grandmother sliced it up and pretended to wear it as a crown. She then handed it to her helper, who handed it over to two little kids to deliver to tables. Oh, and did I mention that no one was wearing any hygiene gloves during all this handling! Unfortunately, because of all that, I don't have a clue what it tastes like. Congratulations Bobby...well done!

When I make one I only leave it in the closet for no more than 8 days! You don't want to leave it in there to long because you just want a hint of mothballs and old shoes when serving ;)

Thanks for sharing. You learn something new every day. So this was their wedding cake? The bride didn't eat any?
You had a busy day. I would have been tired too. Blessings,
