~Barcelona Baby~

Hello friends....if you are a new visitor from Miss Mustard Seed,
Welcome!
Happy to have you visit!
Want to see my newest ASCP
furniture restyle?
A new friend gave me this great wooden chair. She was taking it to Goodwill and thought maybe I could work some magic on it.
THANK YOU!!
Don't you love new friends like that?

sorry for the quality..cell phone pic at night!
So here is the before chair.
Solid..well made and it has a great 1/8 in insert in the seat.
I immediately thought
DECOUPAGE!
While at Luckett's this week, I ran into
First I must say
LOVED
the surprise of running into them
and we had a fun conversation about blogging
(of course)
Anyway, while browsing Karens space I found some gorgeous vintage looking
wrapping paper depicting the city of
London.
The colors in it were perfect for what I had planned for my chair.
So I stayed up until 4am Wednesday night
and painted.
I watched 'White Christmas' 3 times in a row!
Want to hear "Sisters"
I know it by heart.
Ready for the change?

I love the
POP
of Barcelona Orange
and when you add some clear and dark wax...
WOW
My chair really has personality now.

The insert was just begging for a little graphic detail.
The wrapping paper is perfect.

Isn't this color scrumptious????

The paper had all the right colors and the vintage design is so great.

Street names and notable building indicators..I love it.

Little poems scattered here and there.

See the little insert..it made it so easy to add the decoupage.
The dark wax really warms up this bold color,
so please don't be afraid of it's initial brightness.
I can't wait to add some white and see what kind of
wonderful soft sherbet tones I can achieve.

I am so pleased with this piece.
From basic black to
BARCELONA BABY!!!!
So are you an 'Orange' kinda gal?
If you are..tell me, where would you put an orange piece in your home??

Until next time...be kind and stay creative!
PS...I will be a vendor Sat Dec.17th at Past Reflections at the Shumate Auction House
here in Warrenton,Va
10am-3pm
If you are close by...come say hello!

What a transformation!!! Chairs are tough, especially spindle chairs, and I know how much work went into this. No wonder you were painting till 4am.

Perhaps I will sneak up to see what Shumate's is all about.

Janet, I love it. Love the added paper to the seat. I am not an orange kind of gal, but can appreciate it in other homes.

What a conversation piece this is! Imagine someone reminiscing about their recent trip to London...and find this chair. It would be a great addition to any home!

Hey, Janet, that does look great! Even though I'm not an orange lover, I can appreciate a good pop of color. I did an orange pillow in my old guestroom and it really did add some fun. Love talking about color. Great job on your project.
