Featured Artist

Good morning friends, I just got an e-mail from a fellow blogger telling me she has featured my Etsy shop, on her blog. I just checked it out and she did a really great job of making me sound ...dare I say..talented  I am laughing right now). Please do take a peek at
Julianne is a fellow thrift store addict and fully understands my love of a forgotten wool sweater. Giving fellow artists exposure is greatly appreciated and I hope to return the favor.
I have been playing with felted sweater again and having so much fun.  I hope you like them.
P.S. it is snowing!!! Ok ..maybe just a few flurries, but I am happy to get any at all.

Upcycled Fashion Update

Hello I spent all morning working on my newest addition to my Etsy shop. A wonderfully soft child's cardigan. I rescued a fabulous ladies wool and angora turtleneck sweater from my local thrift shop. The color is devine, a beautiful turquois. Holding it is like holding a cloud. I felted it(which is what turned it into a childs size), cut it up and refashioned it. Then I needle felted flowers on the front, collar and back. I just love it and hope someone else feels the same. Isn't it pretty?

My feet hurt!!

Good evening friends! Ok it's feet and back are killing me. I have been on my feet all day felting and drying and cutting up my thrift store sweaters. I made a run to my local Salvation Army ,which is brand new by the way, and picked up three plastic bags full of wool and cashmere sweaters. They had some real beauties too. I had to put some back because I was getting carried away. I admit I am addicted. I am thinking of doing a you tube tutorial on how to properly felt a sweater and prepare it for greatness(so to speak). I have read so many blogs and frankly I think I can do a more informative tutorial. There is one very important step most crafters are leaving out and it bugs the heck out of me.
I am posting some pic's of my cutup sweaters and will keep you posted on how I turn them into little treasures. Hope you enjoy!
By the is freezing here. All day I had to keep replacing the water in our bird dishes. Poor little things were skating..pretty funny. If you live somewhere cold, try to put some water out for our feathered friends. You will be amazed how many will come to drink.
Well I must say goodnight..have to tend to my pot of beef vegetable soup. Perfect way to end a very cold day. Love to you all.

The Ice Man Cometh!!

Woke up this morning to find an icy wonderland outside my window. All my trees were encased in a coating of the glassy stuff, but my bird baths did not freeze. Isn't God thoughtful ;-)
I sewed and felted a few more thrift shop sweaters yesterday and they came out perfect. Now the fun begins.....EMBELLISHMENT!!! Maybe some beads, felted yarns or buttons. I will keep you posted of their progress. The best part of this kind of creating is no patterns or wrong way to to get to the final treasure. Don't you just love Handmade!

felting firsts in 2009!

Hello friends...spent my time as a passenger last week knitting and when I got home I felted a couple of cuties. I posted some pic's and hope you enjoy. They will most likely end up in my Etsy shop. I also cut apart , sewed back together as a couple of purses, a beautiful red wool sweater I bought at my local thrift shop. I have posted pic's and will let you see when they are complete.

Welcome 2009!

Well here we are..2009. All my holiday decorations are packed away and all remnants of Christmas are out of site for another year. MAN, my house looks bare! I get so used to seeing little white lights all over the house during the holidays and when they are put away I really miss them. I do however take this opportunity to do a little furniture rearranging.
I have decided this is the year I am going to eat healthier. Lots of veggies and grainy husband is thrilled....NOT! He hates it when I get on these health kicks. He looks at it as a punishment. I will let you know how it goes ;-)
I am going to have a weekly outing where I will try to find some really unique and cool treasures being offered by artists out there. Some will be in person and some may be via websites or blogs. Hopefully I can expose you to lots of wonderfully creative people.
Here is to a healthy happy new year and many more good times with my friends and family, I love you all.
