~ The Empty Nest Winter Window Display ~

Hello friends....I hope you all survived the Thanksgiving Day festivities and abundant turkey feasting. My holiday was really wonderful because I got to spend it with my family including the two lovely girlfriends of my sons, Billy and Sean. I must add that my turkey this year was probably the juiciest turkey ever!!
Now the turkey and leftovers are gone and it is time to start thinking about Christmas.
I have been working on my winter holiday window and finally finished it this past weekend.
I hope you enjoy it....we think it is quite lovely......
I recently acquired a pair of beautiful old French beds. The beds and an old Victorian fireplace surround were the inspiration for my window design.
I wanted to capture the feel and coziness of a lovely turn of the century bedroom on a winters eve.
I got to use some wonderful elements in this setting.
A fabulous antique book of sheet music given to me by my dear friend
  KellyAnn, of KellyAnn's Quilting
Vintage crocheted evening gloves and a mink collar that once belonged to my Aunt Marie.
I wanted it to look as if the outside world was a winter wonderland, so I used Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan to create a snow scene. Complete with snowman and a sleepy moon.
This fabulous Victorian fireplace surround was just begging for a fire....again Annie Sloan came to my rescue. Some Graphite brickwork..Barcelona Orange and Arles flames and I can almost feel the warmth.
To add to the festive winter vibe, I used a favorite Royal Design Studio snowflake stencil and Chalk Paint® in Old White to decorate the window itself.
Want to create your own winter window magic...find your local Chalk Paint® Stockist here
Now, I am having a bit of trouble with one element of my window.
You see the painted Olive green door on the right?
I want to write something on it to fit the season and I am having a hard time deciding what to write. Let's have a little fun...
You guys chime in and send me some ideas of a short saying or winter quote and if I choose one of yours, you will win a quart of Chalk Paint®.
There is one catch...you must be able to come to the shop to pick up your prize.
So if you are local...leave me a comment or go to my Facebook page and leave a suggestion there.
Until next time...be kind and stay creative!
Oops....I almost forgot!!!
You are all invited to the second annual
The Empty Nest
Holiday Open House
Hope to see you at the shop!
