Hello....Hello....Is anyone still there?????

Hello.....hello....are you there???
I hang my blogger head in shame and admit that it has been MONTHS since I last posted.
I almost forget how to even sign in to post this!!
I have to admit one of the reasons I have not blogged lately is because of my constant presence on Facebook and Instagram.
I am a pretty regular poster on my The Empty Nest business Facebook page and Instagram.
To be totally honest it seems very redundant to come here and post the same things.
I tend to think I will be boring you kind readers.....as if you are all going to come here and think
"Sheesh...she already told us all this on Facebook!"

Hmmmmm....I do love that Gypsy wagon!

Sorry...Clowns scare me!
Also I must admit, I have simply been very busy with the shop.
Which is a very good thing.
Another happy thing that is keeping me busy during my shop downtime is painting.
Not just furniture, but on canvas. I started taking decorative painting classes back in 1987 and have enjoyed it ever since. I strayed away from canvas art for a while, mostly getting my little business up and running. But I am so happy and thoroughly enjoying playing with my artist brushes once again.
I am a firm believer that anyone can learn to paint and I am a perfect example. Other than a basic high school art class, I have never taken any fine art classes...just casual folk art workshops.
It is relaxing and fun...everyone should pick up a few artist brushes and a few bottles of acrylic paint and just go for it!
Here is another reason for being so busy....beautiful new Spring items are being offered at
The Empty Nest.
Carol, Sue, Tina and I are busy finding and artfully displaying many new and old lovelies.
I am pleased to have a fabulous upholsterer and have so many beautiful fabric pieces for your home. A majority of my upholstered pieces are antique and totally restyled to perfection. They do not stay in the shop very long, so please do come by and see what we have to offer.
I am also keeping busy attending local auctions looking for treasures for my customers.
These three chairs will all be getting a beauty makeover with Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan and of course beautiful fabric.
Stay tuned for their exciting debut in the shop!
Very excited to announce that my shipment of
OFFICIAL Annie Sloan wax brushes
have arrived and are selling quite nicely!
The Empty Nest will still continue to carry the current flat bottomed wax brush that many of you use and love. Annie's new brush is admittedly more expensive, however I really love the shape. Makes waxing detailed areas so very easy...see how the angled individually set in natural bristles fit into curved areas? I love that feature and they feel very good in my hand. They are offered in the size pictured and also in a large size for big projects and of course clean up with Dawn detergent and hot water. We are happy to let our customers come back to the studio and take one for a test drive!

Don't worry...The Empty Nest will continue to carry the wonderful
SIFF  Waxing brushes. These fab wax brushes just received a restyle themselves....notice the handle? Yup...Virginia Weathersby, the lovely Chalk Paint® Stockist who keeps me supplied has shortened the handles and I LOVE them as much as our customers do!!!
Of course my ladies and I have been very busy showing off our lovely Chalk Paint® and we are enjoying telling the world about this wonderful, artistic and versatile paint.
Happy to say The Empty Nest painting workshops are continually very popular.
Every class in February sold out...March is sold out and April is almost sold out also!
May classes will be on the schedule very soon, so keep your eye on my Facebook page and here on the Workshop page. Feel free to call the shop for details..540-216-3044.

Remember.....always look for the Annie Sloan logo when shopping for Chalk Paint® or looking for a Workshop to attend.
I consider it my business to always be available to answer questions and help instruct you in techniques so you will be proud of your painted pieces.
If I can't answer your questions, Annie Sloan herself is only an e-mail, tweet or Facebook message away for me. Annie is passionate about making sure all our customers have all the tools and instruction for fabulously beautiful results.
So go ahead....
ASK US!!!
Well, that's it for now and I promise to not stay away for so long again.
Many thanks for being so patient and loyal...I love you all!
Until next time...be kind and stay creative.
......... Janet xox
