Etsy Finds: Born Again
Hello friends..first I would like to thank you for all your wonderful cherry pie comments. I'm putting together next weeks pie post and I can tell you it is going to be delicious. So today I want to share a little good news that I received over the weekend. One of my aprons was featured in Saturdays Etsy Storque. Under the Etsy Finds category called 'Born Again'. It showcased handmade creations made from repurposed and recycled items.
On Friday I listed my newest apron, Citron et Lacet (which means Lemon and Lace in French) and within a couple of hours it was sold to a lovely lady in Texas. Luckily for me, the higher ups at Etsy spotted it before it left my shop. Even though it is sold it can still be viewed and within the first few hours of the Storque posting, the apron views shot up from 276 to over a 1,000 , 1,400, 2,000 and still rising....amazing! It is having a positive effect on my other listings also.
The beautiful shell crocheted lace at the waistband was given to me by my friend Heather over at bebe and alice on Etsy. If you have a moment stop by her wonderful blog and say hello. I love the sweet, simple and easy on yours eyes atmosphere of her blog. Thank you Heather.
I love the secret pocket I added under the overskirt. The yellow fabric is actually a vintage pillowcase I rescued from a life of neglect. Overskirt is a vintage table runner. I love repurposing!
Is their anything more feminine than a large full bow?
My newest apron creation is this Wizard of Oz inspired blue gingham vintage pillowcase beauty.
Of course..I had to come up with a cute sales pitch to accompany the photos in my Etsy shop:
Once Dorothy clicked her heels and finally returned to the farm, she found this lovely apron that her Auntie Emm had made for her as a welcome home gift. You all know how much Dorothy loves blue gingham and ruffles. Auntie Emm searched her antique linen chest and found a wonderful vintage pillowcase and a beautiful table runner her mother had made for her. It was embroidered with pretty blue flowers and a center blossom of strawberry pink and red. She trimmed the runners edge with some dainty crocheted lace her sister Heather gave her many years ago. For some extra texture and fun, Auntie Emm added white ball fringe to the blue toile waistband. As a surprise she fashioned a secret pocket trimmed with more antique lace as a place for Dorothy to keep little treats for Toto. Dorothy loved her new apron and promised Auntie Emm she would never take it off.
Isn't this vintage embroidery stunning? I hope this is not becoming a lost art.
I edged the table runner with more of Heather's beautiful crocheted lace.
More antique lace on the edge of the pastel pocket...for doggy treats ;-)
So that's what I've been up to these last few days..how about you?
Until next time...be kind and stay creative.
UPDATE: Because of so much exposure, I created another yellow couture apron. Guess what..it's sold already!!! I love it! I'll say it again..right place at the right time.

WOW! Those aprons are amazing!! I wish I wore them, but I'm just not an apron person. Do remember my grandma using them when I was young and she was a much neater cook/baker than I am :)

Hey Janet thanks for visiting my blog.
Op (Opportunity) shops are like your thrift shops, with goods donated by the public.
Yes I was very happy with my haul of woollen jumpers. I never find more than one or two at a time, so as you can imagine I was smiling to myself.
Love the new aprons Citroen et Lacet makes me think of lemon meringue pie! Gorgeous colours, soft and subtle and a lovely table runner.
The Wizard of Oz apron is just as lovely, great sales pitch, wish I had such a talented Auntie Emm! You do have the best stash of vintage embroidered items and a 'secret' pocket to boot, that's where I would hide my chocolate stash.
Janet, your aprons are beautiful as is that pie below. I love your blog and will be back often. Have a great day...Mary
