Housing Market is Up

Just a little something to make you smile on this Monday morning.
Remember my little Carolina Wren who has been sleeping in my garage all winter?

Well she and her husband have begun to set up housekeeping in a bookshelf next to her sleeping quarters.
This was taken last week and now the nest looks like a two bedroom condo...very elaborate. I've read that the male builds a few nests and the female chooses which one she likes best...how considerate. Don't worry..I have since removed the pruning paint can from that shelf. I don't want them living next to a toxic waste area...;-)
Until next time...be kind and stay creative.
PS...be sure to pop in on Tuesday for Tutorial Tuesday...come learn something cool.

They are my favorite little bird. I've had them building nests in so many unlikely funny places over the past 20 years...I love their perkiness and beautiful singing...morning, noon, and evening. They sleep on our porch, inside the blinds!

A young couple has found their way under the screen on my back porch and is nesting in an antique bird house I was using for decoration. In fact last Monday they broke the new terracotta bird I set next to the house. I was so disappointed that my bird was broken but at the same time I love the activity and the babies will be safe from the cats and learn to fly inside the screen. I will try to post some pics too.

When I was a little girl , the lowest value copper coin , a farthing (a quarter of a penny) , had a wren on the back . My mother would drop any she'd been given in change into my piggybank at the end of each day . By the end of the week I could usually buy a lolly with the proceeds . So I still associate them with untold wealth !!
How lovely to be able to watch the family emerge , a nice reward for keepng her safe this winter .

I love that your wrens have stayed all winter and feel safe enough to build openly...my family of wrens nest in a birdhouse gourd...I love listening to them talk to their young as we walk by. Enjoy your upcoming family.
Bless your week of Easter
