How About Some Before and Afters?

Hello friends......happy to have you visiting my little nest again.
I must say, I am feeling much better and starting to get my creative mojo back.
I would like to thank everyone for all the well wishes and concerns about my health.
You make me feel very loved and special.
Ok...let's play a little game.
You know how the eye doctor makes you look through that giant machine and asks you..
"Is this better now or now?"
Yeah....let's do that!

Remember this pretty antique side table I found at a local thrift shop a few weeks back?
She has some very nice details and is very heavy and substantial. Aside from some veneer repair I had to take care of, she is good piece in need of a little chalk paint love.
So is she better NOW......
*
*
Or NOW?
I must say, she really sparkles with her new colors.
I base coated her with AS Paris Grey, the drawers in Old White and dry brushed some OW on the relief detail.
A little light distressing, some clear wax and she is reborn.

Her original hardware was dull and dark. I was going to replace them.
I started to play with the pulls and quickly realized they just needed to be sanded
to get the years of grime off.
Beneath the dirt was some very pretty pulls.

For a little element of surprise I painted the drawer interiors with AS Arles, a very pretty apricot color.
It is nice to open a drawer to a color you might not have been expecting.
Kinda makes you smile.
Ok...Next...

Remember this thrift shop floor lamp I showed you last week?
After some chalk paint, is she better NOW....
*
*
Or NOW?
She got a base of AS Old White with some Louis Blue accents to show off her rings.
I distressed, waxed and buffed her to a lovely sheen.
Now she just needs a pretty shade to complete the restyle.
Both pieces are headed to my Fox Den shop this week.

I must repeat...I don't know what the special ingredient is in this paint that makes it adhere so beautifully to all types of surfaces, but I just love it!
I just ordered more colors that I am so excited to play with. I want to start experimenting with mixing the colors also.
I think the possibilities are endless.
Some of you have asked me where I buy my ASCP.
My supplier is the fabulous sister team of Patty and Karen over at Classic Wall Finishes of New Jersey.
You can find them on the web at:
www.bestfurniturepaint.com
Be sure to tell them I said Hello!
Well that's what I have been up to this week.
What are you doing?

Until next time...be kind and stay creative.

PS....mentioning Classic Wall Finishes gets me no special treatment or monetary gain. However they are expected to put me up should my car ever breakdown in NJ while thrift shopping.www.bestfurniturepaint.com

I love how they turned out, especially the side table. I just love working with ASCP, it transforms blah furniture so quickly! Question for you, what do you use to buff once you've applied the wax? (I don't have the proper wax brushes)

You know sometimes when I'm at the optometrist and he says 'Is it better now or now?" I have to ask him to repeat the process as it can be a little difficult to pick the difference...........but not so with your makeovers Janet..........

WOW, I love the side table and the colours you used are wonderful, particularly the painted drawer inners.
The lamp looks wonderful too, I wonder what sort of shade you'll find for it.

I have never ever, ever, seen any pieces like these at the op shops I've been too.

I think your creative mojo has well and truly returned,

Both transformations are fabulous! I really love how the little side table turned out. What a charming surprise to have the drawer insides painted that sweet and cheery color yellow! These pieces will fly out of your shop!

These pieces look fantastic. Love the inside of the drawers. I have that same lamp in my family room. Now I'm thinking it needs to be painted!

They both turned out so nice. I would have a hard time parting with the chest. Glad to hear you are back to it and not having to nurse yourself.

The chest looks a million times better with the chalk paint...doesn't look like the same piece of furniture...really, really nice, Janet!

I couldn't even see the details on the side table when I first saw it - I actually scrolled back to see if you glued something on there! Amazing, as always :)

Love how your items turned out! Beautiful....got a question though--I have been having trouble bringing out the sheen after I apply the wax---are you doing one layer of wax or more?
