So Much News...So Little Time!

     Hello Friends....
So happy to see you here and you have checked in at a exciting time for me.
I know it seems like I have AWOL for a while, at least it feels that way to me.
Well I have a very good reason for
my absence...more of that a little later
Don't go scolling down...
don't you want to be surprised???

First things first
Remember these two dressers I showed you last time.
Two really nice Craig's List finds.

This first dresser is a real heavy and masculine looking specimen.
Please excuse the garage setting, but like I said this thing is HEAVY!
It has a very dark reddish stain and was looking very old.
Time to breath some life into this guy.

And if you read my blog, you already recognize this pretty dresser as the one I took a hit for.
Nice details, but she was very mousy and dull.

 First the big guy....
Here he is with two coats of Annie Sloan Linen, a little distressing and some clear and dark wax.
PS....LOVE the new ASCP colors!!

The top drawer had a pull broken off, so I removed the other one
and replaced them with two very big and chunky
crystal knobs.
The crystal adds sparkle and beauty,
while the large size keeps them from looking too feminine.
I wanted this dresser to appeal to women and men.
Mr. Secret Agent approved.

I decided to sand down the top and restain ..
again to  keep this piece's unisex appeal.

The very top slat is actually the front to a secret drawer.
However, if you ask me, the keyhole sort of gives it away.
But still cool

I love the chunkiness of these knobs!

Very cool decorative pulls.

Now on to the second dresser....
I gave her 2 coats of Annie's Old Ochre, some distressing and clear wax.

Old Ochre is a lovely neutral tone that goes beautifully in any setting.
I painted over the metal pulls and added decorative knobs to the top two drawers.

Cool knobs.....right?
Hobby Lobby has the BEST selection of knobs and the prices can't be beat.

Again I left the top alone.
I am really loving the combo of the painted wood and the stained tops on these dressers.
I don't worry about minor marks or stains.
I feel they add to the charm of the piece.
I don't want my pieces to look new
A little history suits me just fine.
My photo styling tip:
When in doubt, put a plant on it!

I am very happy with how these two dressers turned out.
They will be up for adoption at my Fox Den Space.
My hope is that someone falls in love with them.

 Now for some glittery fun!
I have spent the last few days and nights knee deep in
Glitter
Mod Podge
Elmers
vintage sheet music
vintage tinsel

The Fox Den is having a Holiday Open House on Dec 3rd
I want my spaces to really shine!

What do you think?
He's cute...right?

Finally getting to use my stash of vintage sheet music.
Nothing sparkles like German glass glitter
and vintage tinsel.

I couldn't resist
I had to do it
I had to make some sheet music wreaths...I know, I'm sorry
You are probably sick of them
gorgeous wreaths have inspired me.

Now on to my exciting career news...

The sunrise this morning says it all
It's a new dawning for me and
The Empty Nest
I have been adopted (in a business kinda way) by

I can't wait to meet Annie!
This creative and innovative lady
I am thrilled to announce that I have been accepted as one of
Annie Sloan's
newest
STOCKIST
I have been dreaming of this for quite a while
and as you can tell from my blog
I LOVE THIS PAINT!!

So this slogan will become a fixture on my blog and in my life.
I feel so honored to be chosen.
Annie doesn't let just anyone sell her products
or represent her style and techniques.
There were visits
interviews
and
thorough (but fun) training
I will be writing about my training very soon (Hi Patty and Karen!)
and I'm so thrilled that they
LIKED ME!

I can't wait to spread the word about these brilliant paints.

My idea of home decor
;->

So what does this mean you say?
Well very soon
I will stocking my Fox Den space with
 Annie's paint
waxes
brushes
books
and very soon
offering
workshops on how to get the ASCP look for you home or decor business.
Look for more info on that in the weeks to come.
Thank you Annie Sloan!
More thanks to some other cool ladies (you know who you are) will be coming in future posts!

As a parting thought I would love to share my favorite
Maple tree
I planted this tree 11 years ago and now I can see the beautiful colors while lying in my bed
in the morning.
The Fall colors are electrifying.
Just like this tree, I hope to keep growing artistically
and
be
ELECTRIFYING
Until next time....be kind and stay creative

sharing my good news here:

Congratulations, Janet! That is very exciting news.

The dresser makeovers are both wonderful, as usual. Lucky Fox Den shoppers; they get your creations and a source for ASCP, too! Yet another reason for me to plan a day trip to Warrenton!
