The Empty Nest: My Christmas Message of Love, Kindness and Inclusiveness

Hello friends....well, tonight is Christmas Eve

and when we wake it will be Christmas Day.

We seem to wait all year just for this one day. What is it about Christmas that touches everyone so.

I guess to each of us it means something different.

To some it is a time of contemplation and prayer, to others it is the biggest family day of the year. Many keep it a quiet day at home and many make it a day of visiting friends and loved ones.

Some believe in an overabundance of gift giving and some exchange only love.

However you choose to celebrate the day, keep in mind that we are all unique and what may look like a 'normal' family to you, is not what all consider to be normal. Single moms and dads raising their children, families with two moms or two dads, people fostering children as they await their forever homes.

Couples or singles who are a whole family unto themselves. Those who consider their beautiful animals as their family. All valid and each to be respected.

So stop longing for the 'perfect' holiday family and home that we all are bombarded with on social media. What you are seeing in all those perfect posts is just the skin on the fruit and not necessarily the fruit itself.

Love your life, your family, your home and your friends.

They are what is real and what will sustain you.
