Hello friends...welcome back to my little blog. In my last post , I told you I was on my way to the American Sewing Expo in Chantilly, Virginia. Despite the torrential downpour and the tornado warnings, I got there safely and had a great time. The only disappointment was being told by the lady who took my ticket "no photos allowed". WHAT...are you kidding me???? So....... those of you who know me already realize by now that this post will filled with photos. Yes , I know....slap my wrists and call me bad.

Most of the vendors I visited had no problem posing for me. Bless their hearts! I met some of the nicest ladies and the creativity was overflowing. Meet Colleen Casey, from Some Art Fabric. She had a wonderful little booth filled with whimsical and fun fabric. I love her business card...it says "We sell fabric...wanna make something of it???" Very cute. The colorful fabric in the top left corner is a cotton laminate from Amy Butler. I usually find laminate a little too stiff for my taste, but this fabric is like butter! So soft and the patterns and colors were fabulous. I can't wait to work with it. Don't you just love the freaky cat fabric and the very cool Tina Givens owl prints I picked out from Some Art Fabric. Yes folks...I am going to conquer my fear of snap coin purses!
Say hello to Linda from Auntie Ju's quilt Shop. Linda was my instructor for a Make it/Take it. I have always wanted to learn needle punch..here was my chance. See my business card on her table in front of her...I handed out lot's of those. Networking...networking! It was myself and another fun lady at the demo table and Linda was very patient with us. Our little project was this adorable pumpkin pin...I love it! Needle punch is so easy and so much fun. I loved that it is very portable. Something I can do while watching 'Glee'! I just fell in love with the cool blackbird pin cushion perched on an old oil can.
They got me!!!!! I am all ready to needle punch.
These two lovely ladies are a mother/daughter team. Mom Elizabeth is the owner of a wonderful fabric shop called Grand Bazaar Fabrics, which you can find here on the internet. I chose some very pretty fabrics from their booth and this is where I bought the buttery laminate in the photo above. I complimented them on their beautiful aprons and we got talking about my Etsy shop. Elizabeth was generous enough to give me a new tote bag pattern that she just started to carry in her shop. She asked me to give it a try and let her know how I liked it. That will be another blog post!
The beautiful prints on the bottom right are from Elizabeth's shop...really love the dogwood pattern.
I really liked the vintage look of the ice cream parlor pattern and cute Japanese prints.
So despite being told "no photos' I think I did ok. My advice to the organizers..never tell a lady blogger "no photos"! You will loose every time.
