Feature Alert!
Thursday the April 21st, I will be a guest blogger on Remodelaholic's, a great DIY blog. It was so sweet of Cassidy to invite me to share the details of my recent farmhouse kitchen restyle. I have had so many e-mails asking about what kind of paint, brushes and how I did it for under $500.00. I hope the post will answer all your questions. Please pop over and show some of that fabulous blogger support you guys are famous for.

Hello friends....happy you're here again.
You are in for a real treat.
Before we start creating the Universe's best BBQ sauce, I want to say "Hello" to my blog friend Wanda. Wanda blogs at ''Moments of Mine' and what a lovely blog it is. Wanda always manages to find heart shapes everywhere she goes on her gorgeous property. Well Wanda...I finally found one for you.
Enjoy!

| No clue why I put salt in this photo..there is no salt in the recipe Have I been sipping the Rum?? |
Ok...are you ready to cook?
Here is the written recipe:
Courtesy of ALLRECIPES.COM
1 CUP BROWN SUGAR
1/2 CUP CHILE SAUCE
1/2 CUP RUM
1/4 CUP SOY SAUCE
1/4 CUP KETCHUP
1/4 CUP WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE
2 CLOVES GARLIC, CRUSHED
1 TEASPOON COLEMAN'S DRY MUSTARD
GROUND BLACK PEPPER TO TASTE
The first time I made this, I did not have rum in the house. I did have beer and I had seen recipes using beer. I substituted and it was very good. The second time I did use the rum as the recipe calls for and let me tell you...HEAVEN!!!
Beg, borrow or steal (ok, not really) some rum for this sauce. It makes all the difference in the world, and don't worry, the alcohol burns off while simmering and only the great flavor remains.
Place all the ingredients in a medium saucepan.
Whisk together and bring to a simmer on med heat.
Simmer for 30 minutes and stir occasionally.
While the sauce simmers, you can enjoy the last of my double daffodils.
Back to the sauce.
Just look at this gorgeous amber color and you should smell the aromas swirling around my kitchen.
I am not a big BBQ sauce fan, but I can eat this stuff with a spoon!
In fact...please excuse me a second.
Yum...that was delicious.
Once the sauce is finished simmering, you are good to go. You can use it immediately of refrigerate for another time. This recipe will make the same amount as a store bought bottle of BBQ sauce.
Vegetarians please look away now.
Now place your meat (baby back ribs for me) on the grill.
Once they are at least half way cooked, start basting with your sauce. If you baste too early, your sauce may burn.
Keep basting and turning your meat and watch for any flare-ups.
Don't these look mouth watering?
Plate up your meat with maybe a nice pasta salad (Dreamfields pasta) with a mixture of assorted olives, mozzarella balls, sliced red bell pepper, red onion and a simple vinaigrette dressing. Dreamfields is giving away a $1.00 off coupon on their website, so click on the link.
Let me say, dinner was fabulous.
I hope you give this recipe a try. The flavor is wonderful...a mixture of sweet, tangy, garlicky and just enough bite to make it special.
I know you will not be disappointed.
Now...onto another topic.
I have been on the hunt for an ottoman for my family room. Every Wednesday I head to my Salvation Macy's hoping that will be the day I find one. Whenever I see a good one it has a chair paired with it..UGH! That would not be a problem except it is never a chair I like.
Last week I found this. The top is thick foam covered in off white vinyl and yellow piping.
The frame and legs are wood and I really liked the detail. This will look beautiful repainted. Maybe I'll try my new Annie Sloan's chalk paint and wax .
Not bad...I think this might work.
As you can see, the cushion is easily removed, so restyling it should not be difficult.
It is a little too high for a chair ottoman, but it is the perfect height for an ottoman/coffee table.
So my decision is this....shorten the legs or use as a coffee table?
What do you think?
Oh...and it was only $10.00!
Thanks for all your sweet comments, I love reading all of them.
Until next time...be kind and stay creative.
I am sharing this week with this blog
