Hello friends, just a quick post to share a few photos of a crazy, freaky storm that blew through our area this week.
An old fashioned sun shower. It was pretty awesome. I heard the rain start and it was coming down really hard. I grabbed my camera and ran out on the front porch only to be blinded by the bright sunshine. What the heck?? Very strange to watch the rain pour down, thunder and all. Yet the sun is shining and casting shadows everywhere. Very unusual.
The white streaks are the large rain drops coming off the roof...so cool!
Looking upward you can see the storm and rain to my left and the sun to my right.
The dried up coneflowers are starving for the moisture. I love their large seed heads...perfection!
I like to collect some of the seeds, but most are left on the flower for the American Goldfinches.
They love coneflower seeds and are so much fun to watch as they feast.
The storm brought with it some gorgeous clouds. You know how I adore my clouds.
Just before the sun set it got very stormy and pretty at the same time. The sun was setting to the right and you can see some of that sun coloring the clouds to the left. If you look real close at the middle left you can see a little fluffy white cloud drifting by like he has nothing to do with this big storm. He's just moving along on his merry way...love it.
What have you seen in your sky lately.....What!....you don't look at your clouds? Go ahead..look up, I promise you will not be disapointed.
Until next time...be kind and stay creative.

I love the party bird...
How interesting! I've never seen anything like that! A sun shower?! You know how I love weather, and of course clouds too, so you can bet I was on the edge of my seat. That goldfinch is so lovely and the photo of huge raindrops really cool.
I love skies, too, the more dramatic the better, most particularly I like to capture dramatic sunrises and sunsets, but storms are just as good.
joy xx
Hey Janet, great photos, specially the storm front. The sunshower you had was amazing. Everything sparkling in the sunlight, it looks so pretty.
I prefer the drama of a good storm, with dark clouds and a bit of thunder for atmosphere. Rich wrote a song called 'clouds', you can listen to it at www.myspace.com/richardperso, it's about how he feels when he is performing .
Love the coneflower seed heads and the birds do too by the look of things.
Have a great week,
Claire X
Wow that last photo is incredible, thanks for sharing it!
We just had a rain just like that last week! I thought it was so cool, but the kids seemed unimpressed. I may have called them "brats" under my breath. :)
We had the same type of 'sun shower' here in Ohio, on Sunday too, Janet! It was as if the storm developed right over the house in the sunshine, we ended uphaving two very heavy thunderstorms that day.
Your view of the sky from your home is magnificent!
Beautiful photos.
Amazing photos!! I would be happy for some rain. We get lots of storm clouds, thunder and lightening but no rain!
you always have the most beautiful photos, janet.
