Great Day At My Salvation Macy's!

Hello friends and welcome back to my nest, which feels a lot less empty when you visit.
A Special Hello to all my new Haven Mavens
WELCOME!

I had a special visitor yesterday, but unfortunately I think a little child somewhere is very sad to have lost his/her buddy, or should I say budgie.

This beauty showed up to snack on my birdseed and take a bath.
Gorgeous colors...soft blue underbelly and a pale green and yellow upper body.

He went back and forth between the feeder and the ground.

He really blended in against the lilac leaves.
I hope he finds his way back to his home because I don't think he will survive a winter in the wild.

Ok...are you ready for my thrift shop treasures?

How much do you adore this pretty vintage tablecloth?
I have one that is almost identical, but I have apron plans for that one.
Now I have one to put on my table.
Since my kitchen colors are grey/yellow/white, this cloth is perfect.

Just look at the sweet copper teapot I found.
I love everything about this piece, the copper, the whimsical shape.
She is right out of a Disney movie!

Love the porcelain knob and handle.

And that spout.
Can I get an Amen to that spout!

My teapot was made by the APKO Metal Craft Co. in Holland
Gotta love a lady with a Dutch history
;->

I also snagged a sweet ottoman.
I'm picky about any upholstered pieces I bring into my home.
I inspect, smell, look over closely, take a good whiff...do you get the idea?
Only the best gets to come home with me.
I will slipcover this lovely girl and off to my shop she will go.

I can't believe no one grabbed this fabulous dresser.
I had been in the thrift shop for about an hour when all of a sudden..there she was!
How could I have overlooked her?
She is mine now.

Delicately curved original pulls.
She is a real beauty and is going to get a little style makeover.

Please excuse the photo quality here, but I only had my cell phone camera.
I have not picked up my newest piece so I don't have home photos yet.
This beautiful china cabinet was tucked way in the corner and facing the wall.
No wonder no one spotted it.
Luckily I haunt all corners of my thrift shops, so I grabbed that ticket really fast.

She was a steal with some great detail and lovely hardware.
I can't wait to paint her.

All in all it was a very good thrifting day.
How about you...snagged any bargains lately?
Do tell.

Until next time...be kind and stay creative.

You are the most amazing thrifter Janet. How much do I love that tablecloth? A lot! I covet it ferociously. Lucky duck.
I love the dresser, the china cabinet, (I see Annie Sloans magic paint in their future!) and that ottoman. And we always get such amazing posts showing your transformations. I can't wait!

Another good haul Janet, lovin' that tablecloth,. It reminds me of beautiful Summer mornings in the garden....before it gets too hot.

Great dresser and cabinet, Foxes Den is going to be bursting at the seams with fab buys.

Sweet little copper pot too, as you say straight from a Disney movie, I can just picture it, hehe..........

A beautiful sunny morning here but the grey clouds aren't too far away.
Have a great day,

I saw someone's parakeet the other day at the pool - it was being given a hard time by the other birds...hopefully, it found a way back home. Love the ottoman - I think I need that real bad!

Those are some awesome thrift scores.

I've heard that parakeets will sometimes hop into feather-dusters, thinking they have made a friend. Maybe if your visitor comes back you could hold him over and try to see whether he belongs to someone nearby?

That beautiful little bird is a rare sight this far north. Pity that someone either turned him out or that he go away. But I'm glad he's found safety and food in your nest. :-)

Looks like a great day thrifting! I love all the furniture pieces you scored and can't wait to see what you do with each.

I'd say that was one fantastic day at Salvation Macy's! Your vintage tablecloth is sooo pretty. I'm glad you will be able to use this one on your table. You can enjoy it each and every day.

The furniture pieces you found just astound me. They are perfect! You really have an eagle eye for quality, Janet. I'm sure the transformations of each will be stunning. Looking forward to seeing them.

Wow, you hit the jackpot with all your finds...including the cute little birdie. :) I've been looking for a tea kettle just like yours. I can just see one sitting on my wood burning heater this winter. I'll keep on the lookout!

What the heck, girl?!? How in the world do you find such great stuff? Oh yeah, Amen to the spout!

Oh how I wish we had decent things at our local Salvation Army.... it's just nothing but garbage and fiberboard....... sigh!
I do love your tablecloth and is that first chest made of mahogany? I do love the chalk paint, but I'm not sure I could paint over that beautiful wood!
And yes, that spout is sublime!

I've owned budgies and quaker parrots, we train them to step up which causes them to step onto your finger, or you can use a dowel which acts like a perch. He looks in good shape, seems to be well fed and young. Give it a try or u can even throw a beach towel over him. You may even enjoy having him inside, their song is delightful and they are smart and fun to have. Good luck and try to help him thru the winter or post you found him, he is prob from nearby for sure.
