~Never give up on your dreams~

Hello friends...so glad you could visit again.
If you are visiting from Freckled Laundry..
Welcome
So happy Jami was kind enough to feature
The Empty Nest

Today I received a box in the mail.
Now normally getting a box is cause for excitement
However.....
Today I couldn't help but feel a little sad
at the sight of this
package.
You see, it was a
REJECTION PACKAGE!

Talk about a blow to ones ego...Yikes!
Marie Antoinette Inspired..'Le Petite Trianon'
This apron was fashioned from thrift store dresses and linens.
The inspiration was the country frocks
that Marie Antoinette favored while she
was in residence at

Montmirail, France Inspired Apron..'Mademoiselle Montmirail'

This tangerine beauty was also fashioned from thrift shop skirts
and vintage linens.
The colors of
were my inspiration.
Last year I submitted these two couture aprons to
one of my favorite magazines

I have been featured in Apronology two times before
and was hoping for a third.
They receive hundreds of gorgeous aprons for submission
every year
and I am sure the competition is super tough.
There are so many talented apronologists
creating beautiful aprons.
So I ask you... am I discouraged??
HECK NO!!
I'm going to come at them even harder next year and
maybe even set my sights on the cover.
Like I said..
"Never give up on your dreams"

Until next time...be kind and stay creative.
PS....
Apronology hits the newsstands on Feb 1st and I will the first in line
to buy my copy, so I can Ooooo and Ahhhhh over every page!

  1. I think they are both gorgeous and deserve the cover of any magazine! Your creations are so beautiful and beautifully inspired...I can't wait to see some more.

  2. Good on you Janet......you go for it and I have no doubt whatsoever that you will make the cover.......

I love the colours in both aprons, they are beautiful in their individual way. Though I doubt I could ever cook wearing one of them, I think I would have to have an everyday apron over the top of it, hehe......

Can't wait to see what you make for next years submission..

    Have a great weekend,

    Claire :}

  3. I can't believe they sent these two beauties back to you. The yellow one is definitely cover material. What a clever and creative use of thrift store finds! Love them and, I agree, never give up.....but I don't know how you can top these. Will be anxious to see the next group.

  4. Way to go, Janet! Best way to deal with rejection is to make it work for you. It's their loss, not yours. The next aprons you make will be done with passion!

  5. Silly billies! Sometimes it's completely baffling why these things happen - if only one could be a fly on the wall at the meetings. You WILL get the cover!

I so admire you for it!!!
    Make your 2012 rock!!

  7. Well, I don't know how there would be any aprons any prettier than yours. You have such a wondeful gift to create those.

  11. How dare they reject your beautiful aprons?! I can't imagine they found any prettier ones for their magazine. You're a sweetie to buy their magazine any way.

  15. Good for you Janet! I appreciate your willingness to allow your disappointment to push you onward and upwards instead of bring you down. That's the type of attitude that will take you far! I for one think your aprons are beyond gorgeous and it's a loss to the new addition coming out to not have them included. Thank you for your willingness to share the good moments as well as the disappoints with us, that's what keeps blogging "real"! Appreciate you!

  16. I totally agree with Heather. LOVE your attitude! I think the aprons are beyond gorgeous and although they (for whatever reason I can't imagine) didn't make the cut this time, you'll be gracing the cover soon, my dear. I am especially in love with Mademoiselle Montmirail. I'll be featuring your aprons and post next week...both for beauty and attitude...this may brighten someone's 'rejected' spirits. Thank you for sharing.

  17. We all have failures, the one thing I've learned is that the worst failure is to let your setbacks stop you cold. You'll hit the cover next time my friend!

  18. I'm surprised that the blue and orange number didn't make it in. That was in gorgeous, and this is coming from a non-apron type person. That one wowed me when you first did it. I think it's stunning.

Love your attitude. You've got a great one.
