Autumn Chrysanthemums ....how to grow them BIG!!!!

Hello friends, always wonderful to have this time with all of you.
Today I want us to talk about the quintessential Fall plant, the chrysanthemum.
Mums have long been associated with Autumn. They are available in all the rich, jewel-tone colors we think of when we picture Autumn in our minds.
Golds, purples, reds, yellows, oranges, and creams.
I once worked with a lady, whose father raised mums as a family business.
He shared a wonderful tip, which will ensure that your Mums will be spectacular for the Fall.

Wouldn't this photo make a fabulous puzzle?

Want your Mums to grow into a massive explosion of blooms?

I love chrysanthemum buds.

This Mum plant is 3 feet in diameter!

Is this a daisy plant? NOPE, more mums!!

This chrysanthemum is around 4 feet in diameter!
Here is the secret to growing them this big.
As they are growing during the summer months, take a simple pair of garden scissors, and snip off any flower buds. You DON'T want your Mum to bloom in the summer.
Continue to do this all summer until about the end of July/ beginning of August.
By snipping off the early buds, you will be forcing the plant to continue growing larger with the energy going to the development of the Fall blooms.
This will result in you growing a beautiful big ball of Chrysanthemum blooms, that when opened, will be an explosion of gorgeous Fall color.
That's it, it is really just that easy!

I hope that despite the chaotic and uncertain times we are experiencing, you will find some time to enjoy the rich beautiful colors of Autumn.

Until next time....be kind and stay creative.
